Our comprehensive library of 50 decodable books is designed to grow with your child. We move slowly and intentionally through four critical milestones:

Short Vowels

Consonant-vowel-consonant words ease your child into reading just like the words they have been blending.

Blends

2 letters put together that make 2 sounds like BL, CR, and PL.

Digraphs

Two letters put together that make 1 sound as in SH, TH, and WH.

Long Vowels

Two vowel words where the first vowel says its name and the e is silent.

OUR STORY

Scientifically Designed, Beautifully Illustrated

Foxtail Phonics was created by Ashlee Swensen — a mom who believed every child deserves the joy of reading. Every title is written by Ashlee and illustrated by Makaylie Acevedo.

What started as a desire to help her own children has grown into a full phonics program trusted by families across the United States.
